Experimental data and modeling of the CO2 solubility in 2-methylimidazole aqueous solution

• New experimental data of the solubility CO 2 in a chemical absorption medium are reported. The Cubic Plus Association equation state with pseudo reaction approach is developed for modeling. and physical contributions to estimated predictive manner. capture plays critical role reducing carbon emissions. Novel media, such as imidazole aqueous solutions, have been extensively studied potential candidates. In this work, new 5–30 wt% 2-methylimidazole (2-MeIm) solutions at 293.15–313.15 K were measured. Cubic-Plus-Association (CPA EoS) has proposed model 2-MeIm solutions. CPA can describe well saturated vapor pressure (1.1%), liquid density (0.5%) vapor–liquid equilibrium (14%) Temperature dependent binary interaction parameters between needed order satisfactorily represent phase 2-MeIm-H O-CO ternary systems (11%) temperature range 293.15–393.15 K, which covers all decarbonization process operation conditions. With within EoS, it possible distinguish effects absorbents. This work provides basis further research application novel imidazole-based separation media capture.
